5 Reasons You Need an AED During COVID-19

Did you know that since February 2020, Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) has increased? COVID-19 has also been linked with heart disease. Having an AED onsite at your workplace has always been very important since AED drastically increase the chances of survival of a SCA victim, but now, having an AED readily available is even more important. Here are 5 reasons why you need an AED:

1. There is an increase in OHCA events. (Increased 52% in one year from 321 in 2019 to 490 in 2020)

2. Deaths from OHCA events increased. Survival rates decreased from 14.9% to 7.9%. Bystander response decreased from 61% to 51%. EMT response time increased from 6.6 to 7.6 minutes.
