Did you know that Heart disease and stroke is the #1 killer of Americans? One in three Americans are affected. Did you also know that 80% of heart issues are preventable?
So what can you do to help reduce your risk? Here are a few things:
- Cut out smoking
- Get at least 8 hours of sleep a night
- Take up a new hobby that involves some sort of exercise
- Try to reduce the amount of stress in your life
- Eat a well-balanced diet (fruits, veggies, & whole grains)
What else can you do to be prepared?
Take a First Aid and CPR class and learn how to identify the symptoms of a stroke, heart attack, and sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Learning CPR is an important skill because it is an easy skill to learn and is proven to save lives each and every day. During a CPR class, you will also learn how to use an AED – an essential step in saving the life of someone who is suffering from SCA. Be proactive and locate the AED at your workplace, at your church, or your local mall or restaurant. This knowledge can help save a life.
